Garlic bread

Finely chop or crush a couple of cloves of garlic into a few tablespoonfuls of olive oil and mix thoroughly on a large flat dish.

Slice a baguette and put slices on dish, trying to coat both sides with garlicky oil.

Put frying pan over medium heat and cook a few slices at a time, browning on each side. You'll probably need to take the battery out of the smoke alarm for this bit. Don't forget to put it back later.
